It is impossible to resist a good bubbly brunch on a lazy weekend, and a must for the festive yearend. With so many sumptuous feasts being offered, be prepared to load up on all the sweet and savory calories, and of course, freely flowing bubblies.
Of course, "free-flows" are never free. Most of the time if I could resist the temptation to say "yes" for a few seconds and consider the costs of a free-flow top-up, I usually conclude that it makes more dollars and sense to order my bubbles a-la-carte. What are the odds of finishing a bottle of champagne by myself? After all, I am only a Bubbly Gal yet to grow up in the real drinking world.
Nevertheless, I'm often tempted, by my bubbly friends to go along with the free-flow. The offers are just too tempting. Earlier this year, my girlfriend and I had a brunch at Mezza9 and topped up with free-flow of champagne. We tried our best and had at least 4 glasses each, but it still did not add up to the costs comparing to buying our bottles. I suppose it is our own greed pining for possibility of more that costs us the premium.
The free-flow premium aside, there are some offers which seem more worthwhile than others, based on the champagne they offer. Here are my top 3 selections of bubbly brunches in Singapore in case you are planning one super ultra bubbly brunch:
A renewed kid on the block offering festive brunches with an international spread and free-flow Ruinart “R” de Ruinart and Ruinart Rosé Champagne for the prices of S$228 per pax, which I think is quite worth it overall considering the food and champagne selections. The restaurant has been given a new green tropical forest make-over recently, which makes it quite instagram-able too.
The food menu may be limited to Italian, but if our highlight is the champagne, then this brunch offers one of my go-to labels Billecart Salmon for free-flow at S$198-S$228 per pax. Not a bad price if you can drink a bottle.
If you have a big budget and wants more selections of the better champagnes, Colony's free-flow menu features the most finest selections, from Barons de Rothschild Réserve Ritz Millésime 2015, Dom Pérignon 2012 to Cristal 2014, with prices ranging from S$228 to S$998. Just remember, the more expensive champagne option you choose, the more you should drink up.
